1965 - 1980
We are the last generation to grow up without the internet, and the first to know how to fix a cassette tape with a pencil. Born in the analog age, raised on top ramen, sarcasm, and the pledge of allegiance. Fueled by Saturday morning cartoons, over sugared cereal and Pop Tarts, we came of age when smack talk was cool and life didn't have a filter on it. We didn't care what you ate or where you been, we just wanted to Roller Skate, Hide & Seek and watch This Week in Baseball or The Disney Sunday Night Movie.
We were thick-skinned, paddle-whipped, and taught to respect our elders. The only “PC” we knew stood for Personal Computer. Phones had cords, “leave a message” actually meant something, and if you missed a call, you sprinted to the answering machine like it held government secrets. Friends were made outside, not on a couch, color didn’t divide us, and politics were like religion, kept private. Water was free and best from a hose, street lights were our Big Ben.
We carried Boom Boxes, lived for the Sony Walkman, laced up LA Gears, rocked Z Cavariccis, and nothing fit like Jordache. A mixtape on Valentine’s Day was the ultimate love letter.

- Prince made us feel something when Doves Cried
- and George Michael got us dancing with Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.
We went Back to the Future, joined The Breakfast Club, blew out Sixteen Candles, took a day off with Ferris Bueller, suited up as Ghostbusters, stuck with our Goonie crew, mastered The Karate Kid, ran wild with The Lost Boys, Dirty Danced, lived like Die Hard, and owned our Fast Times at Ridgemont High.....And yeah, we were kind of like Gremlins: cute until midnight. You didn’t FA to FO.
This site will be part tribute, part time machine, a celebration of the weird, wild, and wonderful era that shaped us and the country we live in. We didn’t just grow up, we survived, adapted, and walked so Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha could scroll.
Today’s lack of respect is laughable, Let’s not forget, without Gen X, there is no:
- Social Media, Tom was our first friend.
- Apple wasn’t just fruit, can you hear me know.
- We invited “PC” and it had nothing to do with being politically correct.
- The Information Highway wasn't made to be driven on, your welcome.
So the next time "Woke" Generations TikTok smack, explain the facts to them, we laid the foundation.
We functioned in life before mobile phones, social media, and fake news and we will long after. And just to be clear, 🇺🇸Gen-Xers know what a woman is, Love America and Support our Troops.🇺🇸
