Meet Larry Dluhy - A Pioneer of the Sports Card Hobby

Larry Dluhy, founder of Sports Collectibles of Houston (SCOH), helped shape the sports card industry long before it became the billion-dollar marketplace it is today. A true pioneer, Larry was already a driving force in the hobby during the 1970s, earning a reputation as one of the most respected names in sports cards and memorabilia.

Larry’s retail journey began in 1979 with the opening of his first store, Sports Collectibles of Houston. What started as one shop quickly grew into a Houston staple, expanding to three more locations and cementing his reputation as a trailblazer in the sports collectibles world.

In 1983, Larry launched Houston’s very first Superstar Collector Show, headlined by his close friend and special guest, Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson. That event set the standard for sports memorabilia shows in Texas, bringing collectors and legends together under one roof.

Since then, Sports Collectibles of Houston has grown into a trusted leader in the industry,  not only buying, selling, and showcasing rare cards and memorabilia, but also promoting major shows across Texas and beyond. From Houston to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Beaumont, Corpus Christi, and even Louisiana, Larry and SCOH have built a legacy of connecting fans, collectors, and history itself.
